About Us
Growing in faith, caring and community
under the sign of the cross.
At St. Mark’s we’re a diverse community of faith committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
At St. Mark’s:
- We are a community of believers – touched and empowered by the Holy Spirit and grounded in scripture – who welcome others to join them in the journey of faith;
- Worship, teaching and learning, sharing and witnessing are central to our faith and life, strengthening us for our work as people of God; and
- We foster and encourage programmes and goals that demonstrate our commitment to ministering to human needs and concerns through our congregation, our synod, and our national church.
You can read more about our core values & commitments here.
Our Message
You’re worthy of God’s love just as you are. You don’t have to earn it by being smarter, kinder, better looking, more generous, more righteous or anything else. Through the grace of God your sins are forgiven, and hopefully you find peace in that.
Our Denomination
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church is one of many congregations making up a large family of churches called the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). We belong to the Eastern Synod of the ELCIC.
Our Facility
Our faith community meets in a church located between KCI High School and Grand River Hospital. The building consists of a large sanctuary and fellowship hall, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen, large common area, art room, small gym and several other offices and meeting rooms.
We currently share our space with Meheret Church, an Ethiopian congregation that worships on Sunday afternoons.
For information about using space at St. Mark’s for weddings, meetings or other events, please contact our church office.
Our History
We are a forward-looking faith community eagerly discerning how to keep the life-giving message of Christ relevant today. That said, our community does have a long rich history for which we are grateful. In 2013 we’ll be celebrating our 100th anniversary as a faith community.
